The Orlenberg is a hill in the northern Front Palatinate ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). Its crest, which has a height of 190.8 m , is just 500 m south of the Autobahn 6 ( Mannheim - Saarbrücken ). In a semicircle from southwest over south to east it is surrounded by the municipalities of Kirchheim , Bissersheim , Großkarlbach and Laumersheim , which follow one another on the Eckbach and all belong to the community of Leiningerland .

The Orlenberg is part of a low ridge that protrudes from the Palatinate Forest to the west into the Rhine plain . The watershed between the catchment areas of the Eckbach in the south and its left tributary, Floßbach, in the north , runs over the range of hills to which the Goldberg ( 162 m ) also belongs to the northeast . On the north-eastern slope of the Orlenberg, towards the Goldberg, is the first steeper ascent that the Autobahn 6 takes to get from the Rhine plain to the level of the Palatinate Forest. Regionally, the ascent is known as Laumersheimer Berg .
history
Immediately southwest of the summit of the mountain Orlen, on Großkarlbacher district, are the remains of flak positions from the Second World War , the name Flakhäuser carry.
economy
Morphologically belongs to the Orlen mountain to the vine hills in the northern part of the German Wine Route . It is mostly planted with vineyards .
