Osella (grape variety)
Osella (also FR 498-90 r ) is a fungus- resistant (Piwi) new breed by Norbert Becker at the Freiburg State Wine Institute . This is a red grape variety that has a high resistance to genuine and downy mildew has.
The Viticulture Institute Freiburg operates u. a. the breeding of fungus-resistant grape varieties (see also organic viticulture ). In addition to the Osella variety, the State Viticulture Institute in Freiburg saw further white wine varieties with Cabernet Carbon , Cabernet Carol , Cabernet Cortis , Cabernet Cantor , Baron , Prior , Merzling and Monarch red wine varieties and with Bronner , Helios , Solaris , Souvignier gris and Muscaris as breeding successes in 2008 launched over 350 hectares . The Johanniter grape variety also comes from Freiburg.

1990 took place crossing of the two varieties: Solaris × Muscat Bleu . The grape varieties Galanth , Garant and Rosina also originated from crosses of the same parents.
It has large, loose grapes with red to blue-black berry color and is used as a table grape and ornamental grape .
