The castle was built by the Lords of Rows in the 14th century and mentioned in the 15th century. In the 15th century the castle was owned by the lords of Neipperg and the lords of Venningen . Nothing has survived from the former castle complex, except for the entrance portal, which is said to have been attached to the Gasthaus zum Löwen.
