The Rauenberg castle in Rauenberg , a town in the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis ( Baden-Wuerttemberg ), was built from the 1737th The building is a protected monument .

History and description

The castle was built from 1737 on the vaults and the foundation walls of a former moated castle . It served as the official residence of the bishopric of Speyer , and the coat of arms of Prince-Bishop August von Limburg-Stirum (1721–1797) is attached above the portal . The two-storey, horseshoe-shaped facility is functionally designed and without any special structural adornments.

Todays use

In 1986 the Rauenberg winegrowing museum opened its doors in the castle. It shows numerous exhibits on the topics of viticulture and rural village life.
