Hansgeorg Eugen Oskar Mahler (born August 8, 1952 in Straubing ) is a German artist , actor , author and long-time director and puppet theater player , theater founder, urban developer and chronicler of the Frankfurt train station district .

Life

After graduating from the Main Taunus School in Hofheim am Taunus , Mahler studied pedagogy in Frankfurt, then training in Paris and San Francisco. Exhibition of first sculptural works in 1970. In 1975 he co-founded the Klappmaul Theater , a puppet theater with a focus on children's, family and music theater. Mahler worked for the theater as a director, puppeteer and sculptor for 30 years. He and his colleagues performed with the ensemble until May 2005 throughout the German-speaking region. Mahler is a co-founder of the Freie Theaterhaus Frankfurt.

In 2005 he finished his theatrical work and opened the Hammer Museum Frankfurt in Frankfurt's Bahnhofsviertel , at the time the second largest hammer collection in Germany and the only tool museum in the world that used modern art to present itself. He closed his museum in March 2019.

In 2012 he played an old man in Iron Sky . In 2013, on the occasion of the 125th birthday of Frankfurt Central Station , he played the role of the visionary in the anniversary play.

Mahler has a son and lives in Frankfurt am Main . Oskar Mahler has been politically active in the SPD since 2016 .
