Oskar Svensson (born September 7, 1995 ) is a Swedish cross-country skier .

Career

Svensson's first start in the Scandinavian Cup in January 2012 in Åsarna placed fifth in the sprint among the top 10. At the Junior World Championships 2013 in Liberec he won the bronze medal with the Swedish relay and a year later silver in the sprint at the championship fights in Val di Fiemme . In March 2014 Svensson made his debut in the Cross-Country World Cup in Lahti , where he finished 63rd in the sprint and 70th in the 15 km freestyle. On January 10, 2015 Svensson was ninth in the Scandinavian Cup in the sprint in Falun and a week later he scored his first World Cup points at the World Cup in Otepää with 28th in the sprint. At his next World Cup appearance in February 2015 in Östersund , Svensson finished 46th in the sprint. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he took his first Scandinavian Cup victory in the sprint in Vuokatti . In the further course of the season he finished 37th in the Tour de Ski 2016 and 41st place in the Ski Tour Canada, and at the end of the season he finished fourth in the U23 classification. At the U23 World Championships in Rasnov in 2016 , he came fourth in the sprint. At the beginning of April 2016, he and Karl-Johan Dyvik won the Swedish team sprint championship. After finishing 47th in the World Cup mini-tour in Lillehammer at the start of the 2016/17 season, he won the sprint at the Scandinavian Cup in Lahti in January 2017. In January 2017 he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup in Toblach with second place together with Karl-Johan Westberg . At the beginning of February 2017 he became Swedish champion with the relay and third in the sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti, he took 19th place in the sprint. In the 2017/18 season he achieved 28th place at the Tour de Ski 2017/18 and 18th place at the World Cup finals in Falun and thus reached 31st place in the overall World Cup. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he finished fifth in the sprint.

In the 2018/19 season, Svensson finished 49th in the Lillehammer Triple and 19th in the World Cup finals in Québec and thus achieved 32nd place in the overall World Cup and 16th place in the Sprint World Cup. His best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol were tenth place in the sprint and fourth place together with Calle Halfvarsson in the team sprint. At the beginning of April 2019 he became Swedish champions in the team sprint together with Hugo Jacobsson in Gällivare . The following season he finished 58th in the Ruka Triple and 39th in the Tour de Ski 2019/20 . In addition, he came in the points seven times and thus achieved 45th place in the overall World Cup and 14th place in the Sprint World Cup.
