Ostrosnitz (Polish: Ostrożnica ) is a village in Upper Silesia . It is located in the municipality of Pawlowitzke in the powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski (Kandrzin-Cosel district) in the Opole Voivodeship .

Ostrosnitz is located about three kilometers east of the municipal seat of Pawłowiczki (Pawlowitzke) , 15 kilometers southwest of the district town of Kędzierzyn-Koźle (Kandrzin-Cosel) and 49 kilometers south of the voivodeship capital Opole .

history

The place originated in the 13th century at the latest and was first mentioned in a document in 1281.

The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Contributions to the description of Silesia as Ostrosni (t) z and Ostroschni (t) z , belonged to the Polish rulership of Neukirch and was in the district of Cosel and had 369 inhabitants, a Catholic church, a school, a Vorwerk, a mill, 34 farmers, 20 gardeners and 20 cottagers. In 1865 the Ostrosnitz district consisted of a manor and a village. At that time, the village had 40 farms, 20 gardeners and 100 cottages, as well as a water mill, two post mills and a Kretscham .

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 767 eligible voters voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 195 for membership of Poland. At Gut Ostrosnitz 114 voted for Germany and none for Poland. Ostrosnitz remained with the German Empire after the division of Upper Silesia . On May 16, 1936, the place was renamed in a wave of renaming of the Nazi era in Schneidburg . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Cosel .

In 1945 the until then German place came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Ostrożnica . The district of Cosel was renamed Powiat Kozielski. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1975 the powiat Kozielski was dissolved. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski . On September 30, 2014, the place was also given the official German place name Ostrosnitz .
