The East Road lies to the east of downtown Heilbronn and connects the Weinbergerstraße or the Adenauer place in the north with the Stuttgarter Straße and the Silcher place in the south. It is part of Bundesstraße 27 and an important traffic artery in the east of the city, which was laid out as an avenue based on a concept by the government architect Ludwig Heuss. In Oststraße there are, among other things, buildings that are under monument protection .

Buildings

  • The house no. 2 in 1908 for Otto Pfizer designed by the architect Jakob Saame built.
  • Between 1985 and June 1989 the community center of the community of decided Christians in Heilbronn was built at No. 18 and was used until 2011. From 2014 to 2015 they built the new community center Silcher-Forum on Oststrasse, near the Silcher School. Since 2010, located in the former community center, the Advent School of Adventism Heilbronn.
  • The semi-detached house No. 21 and 23 was built in 1908 according to the plans of the architects Stuber and Beckmann.
  • The multi-storey car park of the Heilbronn District Office is located on Oststrasse . In 2012, a wall frieze made of stainless steel pipes by the artist Gunther Stilling was added. The entrance is on Bruckmannstrasse.
  • The former house No. 24 was built in 1911 according to the plans of Beutinger & Steiner as a residential building with a private surgical clinic for the doctor Dr. Karl Hoffmann built. It was later called the Geyer Clinic. From 1950 to 1954 there was a private gynecological clinic, from 1954 to 1989 a private urological clinic. In 1957 Johanna Geyer had chambers built into the attic. In 1958 there were further modifications to the building. In 1989 the Evangelical Home Foundation had the building converted into an elderly care school with a dormitory. The building was demolished in 2013.
  • The house at Oststrasse 25 and Bruckmannstrasse 22 was built between 1913 and 1914 according to the plans of the Heilbronn architect Hubmann.
  • From 1893 at the latest, there was a large block of flats with factory apartments for the Bruckmann silverware factory in the former no. 39, 41, 43 and 45 . There was a continuous atrium in the middle of the building. After the Second World War, there were still minor modifications and extensions before the apartment block was demolished from 1975 to 1976.
  • The former house No. 40 was designed by the architect Hannes Mayer as a residential building with a practice for Dr. med. Albrecht Giese built. The construction consultancy Stuttgart was involved. An extension with a loft extension was not approved in the period from 1941 to 1943 due to the war.
  • In front of house number 42 there is a stumbling block for Hedwig Eisig (née Strauss) from Heilbronn, who was deported on November 26, 1941 and murdered in Riga.
  • The former house No. 44 was built between 1934 and 1935 for master tailor Karl Laufth according to plans by Stuber and Beckmann.
  • House No. 55 with the rear building No. 55 a was built in 1900 by the architects Maute and Moosbrugger . From 1928, the company Baier & Schneider made additions and modifications to the building.
  • The inn at Gutenberg was located in the former corner house at Oststrasse 57 and Wollhausstrasse 73. In 1923 there was briefly an alpaca goods factory here. The butcher Robert Staigele had the economy converted into a butcher's shop in 1932.
  • From 1876 to 1948 the Lindenmeyer & Co. vinegar, alcohol and pressed yeast factory was located in building complex No. 72. From 1877 a steam boiler house, a malt coffee roasting plant and a large kiln were added and installed. In 1919 the company moved to Neckarsulmer Strasse. In 1941 charities were added. In 1942 a building that was damaged by an air raid was restored. From 1945 to 1948 the malt extract and malt coffee factory was repaired again.
  • 83 has been used as a gas station since 1951.
  • In the former number 99 there was a residential building with an office for the pharmacist Dr. Lindenmeyer, which was built according to plans by the Stuttgart architect Prof. Robert Reinhardt from 1875. When the house was built, Oststraße was not yet developed.
  • In 1907 the foreman widow Louis Huber applied for a building permit in the former no. 110 for a house that was planned by the architects Maute and Moosbrugger.
  • Between 1909 and 1911, residential building No. 112 was built for the foreman Hermann Huber according to the plans of the architects Maute and Moosbrugger.
  • The former residential building No. 114 was built in 1906 according to the plans of the architect Jakob Saame for the foreman Gustav Rohrbach. After the bombing in World War II, there was an emergency roof over the ruins.
  • House no. 125 had its topping-out ceremony on July 14, 1971 and was occupied on August 7, 1973 by the Heilbronn telecommunications office of the Deutsche Bundespost .
