Gunther Stilling

Gunther Stilling (* 1943 in Srpski Miletić , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ) is a German sculptor who lives and works in Güglingen .

Life

Stilling studied from 1964 to 1969 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and has been a freelance sculptor since then. From 1973 to 1978 he was assistant to Prof. CH Kliemann at the Institute for Fine Arts at the University of Karlsruhe. Since 1975 he has been a member of the Baden-Württemberg Artists Association. Since 1979 he has held a professorship for sculptural design at the Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences . He lives and works in Güglingen and, since 1980, in his second studio in Pietrasanta (Italy). Since 1992 he has been teaching at the University of Karlsruhe and at the University of Brighton in England.

Stilling mainly works with metal and sandstone. The head is one of his frequently recurring motifs. In addition to figures and sculptures, he also created numerous fountains. His works can be seen in public spaces in numerous southwest German cities and have received several awards. His works include the Guardian (1992) in Schwäbisch Hall , the fountain on the Kelterplatz and a wall fountain in Pfaffenhofen , the sculpture Orpheus at the city theater in Heilbronn , art in architecture at the city theater, at the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule and the university in Kaiserslautern , several sculptures in Bietigheim-Bissingen , the Güglinger Sphinx in Güglingen , the sculptures of the City Hall Gallery in Aalen , the idol figure on the fountain at the Town Hall in Jagsthausen , La Mano in (2007) Neckarsulm , who as a roundabout art designed universal Uomo ( 2008) in Leingarten as well as the 85-meter-long sculpture made of stainless steel pipes installed in 2012 at the multi-storey car park of the District Office in Heilbronn.
