Otto Fabian von Wrangell also Wrangel (* February 8th July / February 18,  1655 greg. In Reval ; † December 8th July / December 19,  1726 greg. ) Was an Estonian knighthood captain .

Life

Otto Fabian was a member of the Baltic noble family Wrangel . His parents were the Swedish captain , Estonian knight captain and district administrator and manor owner Fabian von Wrangell (1614–1689) and Anna Dorothea, née von Lode († 1661).

In 1702 he married Christina Eleonore Freiin von Fersen (1679–1704), a daughter of the Swedish Field Marshal Otto Wilhelm von Fersen (1623–1703). The marriage remained without children.

Wrangell attended the Revaler Gymnasium and then studied from 1674 to 1775 in Leipzig . A cavalier tour to Germany , Italy, France and Holland followed. 1676 was a lieutenant in the regiment of Count Königsmarck in French military service. In 1681 he advanced to Rittmeister and must have received his departure a little later .

After returning to his Estonian estates Mönnikorb , Hoebbet and Kurnal , he became a judge in 1694 . From 1697 to 1701 he was knighthood captain and from 1701 to 1711 district administrator. In 1718 he donated a silver altar jug ​​to the St. Juergens Church in Harrien .

He wrote a country chronicle that was edited by Julius von Paucker in 1845 and published by the Estonian Litary Society . This work is considered to be the most important credible chronicle of the history of Livonia (Estonia and Latvia).
