Otto Rudolf Kissel

Otto Rudolf Kissel (born January 8, 1929 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German lawyer . From 1981 to 1994 he was President of the Federal Labor Court .

Life

The son of a judicial officer graduated from the Liebig School in his hometown in 1948 and then studied law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . In 1952 he passed the first state examination in law and in 1956 the two state examination in law. In 1954 he received his doctorate magna cum laude as Dr. jur.

Kissel was appointed judge at the Frankfurt am Main district court in 1959 . From March 1959 he worked in the Hessian Ministry of Justice, where, among other things, he dealt with legal issues. He was also legal advisor for the human resources department and press officer. For two years he held the office of chairman of the staff council in the ministry.

From June 1963 to April 1964, Kissel headed the Hessian state representation at the federal government in Bonn . In May 1964 he was appointed head of the department for private law , public law , court organization and legislative matters in the Ministry of Justice of the State of Hesse. In January 1970 he was appointed President of the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court .

In 1981 Otto Rudolf Kissel was appointed third President of the Federal Labor Court to succeed Gerhard Müller . The Federal Minister for Labor and Social Affairs Herbert Ehrenberg introduced him to his office in Kassel in February 1981 . At the end of January 1994 he retired.

Kissel was an honorary professor at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen and is the author of numerous legal publications, including a commentary on the Courts Constitution Act . From 1969 he was President of the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau . In 1979 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class , and in 1994 the Great Cross of Merit with Star and Shoulder Ribbon.
