Otto Wilhelm Scharenberg (born May 29, 1851 in Kiel , † December 14, 1920 in Erdmannsdorf in the Riesengebirge ) was a German architect and construction clerk , from 1898 to 1915 he was a city planner in Leipzig .

Scharenberg studied at the Berlin Building Academy and at the Technical University (Berlin-) Charlottenburg . From 1887 to 1895 he worked for the construction management of the imperial court building in Leipzig. As the successor to Hugo Licht, Scharenberg was Leipzig City Planning Officer and Head of the Building Department from 1898 to 1915, and he had a lasting impact on the cityscape of Leipzig. He was very capable of responding to the specific requirements of the construction work and the wishes of the client and can be seen as a representative of the "half-time of modernity" for this phase of his work.
