Ove Juel

Ove Juel or Ove Juul also Ove Frederiksen Juul (born May 1, 1700 on Villestrup, † April 4, 1766 on Ravnholt ), was a Danish lieutenant general .

origin

Juel belonged to a Danish noble family . His parents were the Danish budget councilor Frederik Juul (1661-1721) and Anna Berntsdatter Due (1671-1701).

career

At the end of the Great Northern War, Juel joined a cuirassier regiment in Jutland, where he was a cornet in 1717 and was promoted to lieutenant in 1718 and Rittmeister in 1719 . In 1723 he changed regiments. Here he rose to major until 1732 . He switched to Guard on Horseback in 1734 and became a colonel in 1736 . On January 27, 1738 he became chief of the Baudissin cavalry regiment . Juel was promoted to major general in 1752 , but rose to lieutenant general in 1758. He took his leave in 1761. From 1757 to 1766 he was the heir to Ravnholt, where he spent his retirement. He was chamberlain from 1736 and knight of the Dannebrog Order from 1746 .

family

Juel married in 1736 in Ottensee with Countess Sophie Hedewig Friis Friis to Borg (1717 to 1777), daughter of Christian Friis Friis to Borg . The marriage had four children.
