Overland Park is the second largest city in the US state of Kansas with 173,372 residents (according to the last census in 2010) . The city is located in Johnson County and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area .

history
The city was founded on May 20, 1960 and is one of the youngest parishes in the county. In 1960 the city had only 28,085 inhabitants and an area of 44.5 km². In 1990 it had 111,790 inhabitants and an area of 146 km². In 2005 the city had 167,000 inhabitants on an area of 161 km². On April 13, 2014, a 73-year-old Ku Klux Klan member shot dead three people in two Jewish facilities in Overland Park. The perpetrator was arrested.
