The PAZ-3206 ( Russian ПАЗ-3206 ) is an all -terrain minibus with all-wheel drive from the production of the Russian manufacturer Pavlovsky Avtobusny Sawod . Technically and optically, the vehicle is based heavily on the PAZ-3205 without all-wheel drive, which is widely used in Russia .
History and description
As early as 1988, the PAZ factory produced three prototypes of the bus, which were supposed to replace the previous PAZ-3201 , which also had all-wheel drive. Actual series production did not begin until 1995, however. It has continued since then, with minor improvements being made over the course of the production period. Since 2002, under the designation PAZ-32063, a version as a school bus has also been offered, which corresponds to the Russian standards for such vehicles.
Externally, the bus hardly differs from the standard PAZ-3205 model without all-wheel drive. Only the differential on the front axle and a slightly raised body reveal that it is a PAZ-3206. There are significant technical differences, especially on the chassis. The chassis as well as the transmission come from the production of the Gorkowski Awtomobilny Sawod . In addition, the bus has a two-stage reduction gear and a lockable central differential to increase off-road mobility. For use in northern or very cold regions, a version with double glazing and an additional insulated passenger compartment is available.
It is unclear how many of the vehicles have actually been produced since 1995. About 600 copies are occupied, a very small amount compared to the PAZ-3205, of which 150,000 pieces rolled off the line up to 2006 alone.
