history
Paakitsoq was founded as Udsted in 1832 . At that time it was the first Udsted in the colonial district. The colony had been too densely populated for some of the residents to find new hunting and living quarters. Although the hunting conditions were good, Paakitsoq was never economically successful. In 1870 there were only two houses, which made the place a very small Udsted and a short time later the Udsted status was revoked, so that the place was only a place to live. In 1902 Paakitsoq was given up.
