Arsivik [ ˈɑsːivik ] (according to the old spelling Arsivik ) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the Ilulissat district in the Avannaata Kommunia .

location

Arsivik is located on the northeast coast of the island of Alluttoq (Arveprinsens Ejland). The Arsiviup Ikera Sound , which separates Alluttoq from the island of Illuluarsuit Nunataat , runs in front of the village . Arsivik is located 29 km southeast of Qeqertaq and 57 km north of Oqaatsut .

history

Arsivik was settled before the colonial era and has probably been inhabited since then. The place belonged from 1911 to the municipality Ataa .

In 1915 Arsivik had 18 residents who lived in two houses. There were five hunters, one of whom was a reader. A short time later (still in the 1910s) the population increased because the residents of Qilersiut moved here. Between 1930 and 1947 Arsivik had between 26 and 47 inhabitants. In 1949 the residential space was given up anyway.
