The Padasterjochhaus is a refuge in the Stubai Alps at an altitude of 2232 m above sea level. A. It was built in 1907 by the Vienna Friends of Nature Section on the Gschnitztal side below the Padasterjoch and is considered the oldest Friends of Nature House in Austria.
history
A refuge for nature lovers had been planned on the Serleskamm since 1904 . Construction was then carried out below the Padasterjoch , at the upper end of the Padasterbach valley, west of Steinach am Brenner . Construction work based on plans by Julius Depaoli from Innsbruck began in 1905 with the construction of a path to the building site. The First Celebration took place on October 13, 1906 , and the house was officially opened on August 12, 1907. The Friends of Nature had to take out a loan of 25,000 crowns for the construction . The house has been in operation since 1908 and had more than 1000 visitors that year. When the on February 14, 1934 Democratic Socialism affiliated Tourist Association Friends of Nature by the government of the Austro-fascist Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss was banned, his fortune came to politically agreeable associations . After 1945, the house, which was neither damaged nor looted, was soon operational again.
