Paingod was an American groove and thrash metal band from Lake Worth in Palm Beach County , Florida .
history
The band was originally formed under the name Raped Ape and later renamed itself Paingod. Under this name a demo was released in 1995 , of which the song of the same name was released on the metal blade sampler Metal Massacre XII .
As a result, Century Media signed the group and released the quartet's only album in 1997 - again under the title Paingod .
After the Paingod disbanded, individual musicians were later sometimes active for other bands. For example, guitarist John Paul Soars can be heard on Malevolent Creation's album In Cold Blood and later co-founded Divine Empire . In 2004, for example, JC Dwyer acted as a replacement drummer on Pro-Pain's 2004 European tour .
style
Martin Popoff noted in his book The Collector's Guide of Heavy Metal Volume 3: The Nineties that the band plays a mixture of groove metal and hardcore punk on the album, which is mixed with the music of downset. , Nothingface , I'M'L , Madball and Biohazard are comparable. Matthias Weckmann from Metal Hammer wrote about the album that the band lacks independence because it sounds like a poorer copy of Machine Head , Pantera and Biohazard.
