Paisley South was a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 1999 as one of nine constituencies in the West of Scotland constituency , which was redesigned and renamed West Scotland as part of the constituency revision in 2011 . Here the constituency of Paisley South was abolished. It included the southern districts of Paisley and the towns of Johnstone , Elderslie and other parts of the Renfrewshire Council Area . The area is essentially absorbed into the new constituency of Paisley . In the 2001 census survey, a total of 67,008 people lived within its borders. The constituency sent a deputy.
