Paolo Pezzi
Paolo Pezzi FSCB (born August 8, 1960 in Russi , Emilia-Romagna ) is an Italian religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Moscow and metropolitan of the ecclesiastical province of the same name . From 2011 to 2017 he was also President of the Russian Bishops' Conference .
Life
Paolo Pezzi studied philosophy and theology at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome from 1985 to 1990 . On 22 December 1990 he received the Priestly Fraternity of the Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo , the ordination in Rome by Ugo Cardinal Poletti . After a doctorate in pastoral theology at the Pontifical Lateran University , he was with the work "Catholics in Siberia - Origins, Pursuit, today" doctorate . He has been working in Russia since 1993 .
From 1993 to 1998 Pezzi was director of the Catholic church newspaper and dean in the Apostolic Administration of Western Siberia (from 2002 Diocese of the Transfiguration of Novosibirsk). From 1998 to 2005 he was Vicar General of the Society of Missionaries of St. Karl Borromeo (FSCB) was involved in the administration of the order. At the same time, he took over the leadership of the Comunione e Liberazione movement for Russia. He is the first Grand Prior of the Order of Russia of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
Utterances
At a sermon on the visit of the pilgrimage on October 13, 2011 in Fátima ( Portugal ) he said: There is a tendency for "totalitarian powers" to suppress the religious dimension in society, which means that "the mighty of this world everything that God Honor makes you hate ” .
