Paolo Piva (born March 13, 1950 in Adria ; † July 7, 2017 in Vienna ) was an Austrian - Italian architect , designer and artist .

Life

Piva studied architecture in Venice from 1968 to 1973 , especially with Carlo Scarpa and Carlo Aymonino . In 1973 he completed his studies with a doctorate and state examination. His interest in architecture and building culture in socialist Vienna was followed in 1975 by the exhibition Vienna rossa (Red Vienna) in collaboration with the Institute for History and Architecture in Venice and the Academy for Applied Arts in Vienna .

In addition to some projects and works as an architect, he designed seating furniture, cupboards and kitchens in particular. Since the 1970s, Piva has worked with several manufacturers, including B&B Italia, Burelli Cucine, Dada, de Sede, Fama, Giovannetti, Lumenform, Mobel Italia, Poliform, Team 7, Thonet and B&B Italia, the Italian kitchen manufacturer Varenna and the Austrian manufacturer Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten .

Since 1988 Piva was professor for industrial design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna . Piva lived and worked in Vienna, Biella ( Piedmont ) and Venice.
