The Sud de France Arena (also: Arena Montpellier ) is a multi-purpose hall in the southern French city of Pérols , southeast of Montpellier in Hérault , Region Occitan . The hall is located near Montpellier Airport .
history
Since its opening on September 3, 2010, sporting events such as handball and basketball have taken place in the hall, as well as concerts , trade fairs and congresses . Depending on the type of event, it holds up to 14,800 seats. Initially, the hall was named Arena Montpellier . Until April 2016, the name of the hall was the hotel chain Park & Suites. After that it was called Arena Montpellier again . In June 2017 the hall was named Sud de France Arena . This goes back to the wish of the President of the Regional Council of Occitania, Carole Delga , to make the Sud de France brand better known nationally and internationally. The sponsorship contract runs for 15 years with an annual payment of 330,000 euros .
