Georges Freche was expelled from the Socialist Party because of comments that were classified as racist about the French national football team . The list he kept won a majority of seats in the regional council in the 2010 regional elections. In the same year, Georges Frêche died in office. His two successors, like the others on his list, are elected members of the Socialist Party faction, but not members of the party.
