Saint-Hermeland church in Saint-Herblain

The French town of Saint-Herblain in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire , with 46,268 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) the third largest city in the department. It is located west of Nantes about 60 kilometers from the Atlantic coast. The city is the seat of the cantons of Saint-Herblain-1 and Saint-Herblain-2 .

history

Saint-Herblain was founded as Sankt Hermeland between 640 and 720 by a Benedictine monk .

Infrastructure

As a city directly adjacent to Nantes, it fulfills some of the infrastructure tasks of the city association, the Agglomération Nantaise.
