Rouans ( Breton : Rodent ; Gallo : Roant ) is a French municipality with 2956 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nantes and the Canton of Machecoul (until 2015: Canton Le Pellerin ). The inhabitants are called Rouansais .
geography
Rouans is located on the Acheneau and Canal de Buzay around twenty kilometers southwest of Nantes in the historic Pays de Retz landscape . Rouans is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Pellerin in the north and northeast, Cheix-en-Retz in the east, Port-Saint-Père in the southeast, Saint-Hilaire-de-Chaléons in the south, Chaumes-en-Retz in the southwest and Vue in the west and northwest.
The municipality is located in the Gros Plant du Pays Nantais wine-growing region .
