Saint-Mars-de-Coutais ( Breton : Sant-Marzh-ar-C'hoad ) is a French municipality with 2610 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire and part of the Canton of Machecoul . Saint-Mars-de-Coutais is part of the Nantes arrondissement . The inhabitants are called Saint-Marins .

Saint-Mars-de-Coutais is located in the countryside of the Pays de Retz on the banks of the Tenu River , which also forms the northwestern municipal boundary. Saint-Mars-de-Coutais is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Port-Saint-Père and Saint-Léger-les-Vignes in the north, Bouaye in the northeast, and Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu in the east with the Lac de Grand-Lieu , Saint-Lumine-de-Coutais in the south and south-east, Machecoul-Saint-Même in the south and south-west and Sainte-Pazanne in the west.
