Basse-Goulaine ( Breton : Goueled-Goulen ) is a commune of the Loire-Atlantique department in the region of Pays de la Loire . Administratively, Basse-Goulaine with its 9,036 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) is assigned to the Arrondissement of Nantes and belongs to the canton of Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire . The inhabitants are called Goulainais .
geography
Basse-Goulaine is located on the south bank of the Loire a few kilometers southeast of Nantes . Basse-Goulaine is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire in the north, Saint-Julien-de-Concelles in the northeast, Haute-Goulaine in the east, Vertou in the south, Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire in the west and Nantes in the Northwest.
The national road 249 from Nantes via Cholet to Bressuire and the national road 844 from Nantes to Carquefou run through the northern municipality .
Basse-Goulaine is located in the Muscadet , Muscadet Sèvre et Maine and Gros Plant du Pays Nantais wine-growing regions . Mainly grapes for white wines are produced.
