Monnières ( Breton : Meliner ; Gallo : Monierr ) is a French municipality with 2239 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Nantes and the canton of Clisson . The inhabitants are called Monnièrois .
geography
Monnières is about 18 kilometers south-east of Nantes . The Sèvre Nantaise river , into which the Sanguèze flows here, limits the municipality in the northeast. Monnières is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Le Pallet in the north and northeast, Gorges in the east and southeast, Saint-Lumine-de-Clisson in the south and Maisdon-sur-Sèvre in the west.
The community belongs to the Gros Plant du Pays Nantais wine-growing region . Mainly the Muscadet is produced here.
