The Canton Clisson (Breton Canton Klison ) is a French canton in the Arrondissement of Nantes , in the Loire-Atlantique and the region Pays de la Loire ; its main town is Clisson .
history
The canton was established in 1790 (and briefly belonged to the canton of Vieille-Vigne in 1801/1802). From 1790 to 1801 and 1802 to 2015, seven municipalities belonged to the canton of Clisson. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of municipalities rose to 12. In addition to the seven previous municipalities, 5 of the 8 municipalities of the previous canton of Aigrefeuille-sur-Maine were added.

The old canton of Clisson comprised seven municipalities over an area of 123.96 km². These were: Boussay , Clisson (main town), Gétigné , Gorges , Monnières , Saint-Hilaire-de-Clisson and Saint-Lumine-de-Clisson . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 4409.

politics
In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the four voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, François Guillot (UMP / LR) / Nelly Sorin ( DVD ) won against Josette Boussonniere / Philippe Gergaud (both DVG ) with 57.68% of the votes (turnout: 49.37%) .
