The canton Vertou (Breton canton Gwerzhav ) is a French canton in the arrondissement of Nantes , in the department of Loire-Atlantique and in the region of Pays de la Loire ; its main town is Vertou .
history
The canton was established in 1790. From 1790 to 2015, two communities belonged to the canton of Vertou. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of municipalities rose to five in 2015. Three of the five municipalities of the previous canton of Vertou-Vignoble were added to the previous municipalities .

The canton is located in the south of the Loire-Atlantique department.

The old canton of Vertou comprised two communities on an area of 48.70 km²: Les Sorinières and Vertou (capital). Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 4446.

politics
In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the four voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, the team Rodolphe Amailland / Agnês Paragot (both UD) won against Delphine Coat-Prou / Nejat Narinc (both PS) with a share of the vote of 59.46% (turnout: 50.88%).
