The District of La Baule (Breton Canton Ar Baol-Skoubleg ) is a French canton in the Arrondissement Saint-Nazaire , in the Loire-Atlantique and the region Pays de la Loire ; its main town is La Baule-Escoublac .
history
The canton was created in 1985 by spinning off from the canton of Guérande . From 1985 to 2015 only two municipalities belonged to the canton of La Baule-Escoublac. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 6. In addition to the communes of the old canton of La Baule-Escoublac, all 3 communes of the previous canton of Le Croisic and the commune of Saint-André-des-Eaux from the canton of Guérande were added .

The old canton of La Baule-Escoublac comprised two communities on an area of 34.86 km². These were: La Baule-Escoublac (main town) and Pornichet . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 4457.

politics
In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the six voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, Danielle Rival / Gatien Meunier (both UMP / LR) won against Yannick Joubert / Evelyne Provost (both PS ) with a share of the vote of 66.5% (turnout: 48.26%).
