The Canton Nort-sur-Erdre (Breton Canton Enorzh ) is a French canton in the Arrondissement Châteaubriant-Ancenis and Châteaubriant , in the Loire-Atlantique and the region Pays de la Loire ; its main town is Nort-sur-Erdre .

history

The canton was established in 1790. Until 1899 it was called Nort (since then Nort-sur-Erdre) like the main town of the same name. From 1790 to 2015 six municipalities belonged to the canton of Nort-sur-Erdre. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 14. In addition to the previous six communes, 4 of the 5 communes of the previous canton of Riaillé , 3 of the 4 communes of the previous canton of Ligné and the commune of Notre-Dame-des-Landes left added to the canton of Blain .

The canton is located in the eastern center of the Loire-Atlantique department.

The old canton of Nort-sur-Erdre comprised six municipalities over an area of ​​248.22 km². These were: Casson , Héric , Les Touches , Nort-sur-Erdre (main town), Petit-Mars and Saint-Mars-du-Désert . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 4427.

politics

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the four voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, the pairing Jean-Luc Besnier / Anne-Marie Cordier (both UDI) won against Patrice Chevalier / Aïcha Metlaine (both DVG ) with a share of the vote of 58.9% (turnout: 49.67%) .
