The Canton Vallet is a French canton in the Arrondissement of Nantes , in the Loire-Atlantique and the region Pays de la Loire ; its main town is Vallet .

history

The canton was established in 1790. From 1790 to 2015, five municipalities belonged to the canton of Vallet. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of municipalities rose to 12. All seven municipalities of the previous canton of Le Loroux-Bottereau were added to the previous municipalities .

location

The canton is located in the east of the Loire-Atlantique department.

The old canton of Vallet comprised five municipalities on an area of ​​118.85 km²: La Chapelle-Heulin , La Regrippière , Le Pallet , Mouzillon and Vallet (main town). Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 4444.

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the four voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, the pairing of Pierre Bertin / Charlotte Luquiau (both UD) won against René Baron / Réjane Secher (both PS) with a share of the vote of 62.11% (turnout: 48.72%).
