Gorges ( Breton Gored ) is a French municipality with 4658 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Nantes and the canton of Clisson . The inhabitants are called Gorgeois (es) .
geography
Gorges is located about 20 kilometers southeast of Nantes on the Sèvre Nantaise river . Gorges is surrounded by the neighboring communities Le Pallet in the north, Mouzillon in the north and northeast, Clisson in the south and east, Saint-Hilaire-de-Clisson in the south and southwest, Saint-Lumine-de-Clisson in the west and southwest and Monnières in the northwest .
The Muscadet Sèvre et Maine and Gros Plant du Pays Nantais wine-growing regions extend into the municipality.
