Mauves-sur-Loire ( Breton : Malvid ; Gallo : Mauv ) is a commune with 3,215 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . Mauves-sur-Loire belongs to the Arrondissement of Nantes and is part of the canton of Carquefou . The inhabitants are called Malvien (ne) s .
geography
Mauves-sur-Loire is located on the north (right) bank of the Loire about 15 kilometers northeast of Nantes . The municipality is surrounded by Saint-Martin-du-Désert in the north, Le Cellier in the north and northeast, Divatte-sur-Loire in the south and southeast, Thouaré-sur-Loire in the southwest and Carquefou in the west.
The A11 autoroute and the former Route nationale 23bis (now D723) and the Tours – Saint-Nazaire railway run through the municipality .
