La Marne ( Breton : Maeron ) is a French municipality with 1,503 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . La Marne belongs to the arrondissement of Nantes and the canton of Machecoul . The inhabitants are called Marnais .

geography

La Marne is located in the countryside of the Pays de Retz about 30 kilometers southeast of Nantes on the banks of the Tenu River . La Marne is surrounded by the neighboring communities Machecoul-Saint-Même in the north and west, Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu in the north-east, La Limouzinière in the east, Saint-Étienne-de-Mer-Morte in the south and Paulx in the south-west.
