Laura Valette (born February 16, 1997 in Saint-Herblain ) is a French hurdler who specializes in the 100-meter distance .

Athletic career

Laura Valette contested her first competition at international championships at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2013 in Utrecht , where she won the gold medal in 13.70 seconds and finished fourth in the French sprint relay in 47.22 seconds. The following year, she participated in the second Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing , where she also won the gold medal in 13.34 s. In 2015 she won the bronze medal at the European Junior Championships in Eskilstuna, Sweden, in 13.21 seconds and in 2016 she finished eighth in 13.42 seconds at the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz . In 2017 she was eighth in the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz in 13.85 s and then reached the semi-finals at the Summer Universiade in Taipei , in which she was eliminated with 13.64 s.

In 2018 Valette won the U23 Mediterranean Championships in Jesolo in 13.11 s and then reached eighth place in the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona in 13.94 s. In addition, she qualified for the first time for the European Championships in Berlin , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 13.22 seconds. At the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama , she retired in the hurdles relay with 56.56 s in the run-up and then won the bronze medal at the U23 European Championships in Gävle in 12.97 s behind the Belarusian Elwira Herman and Klaudia Siciarz from Poland. In October she took part in the World Championships in Doha , but retired there with 13.47 s in the first round .

In 2019 , Valette became French champion in the 100 meter hurdles outdoors and in 2018 indoor champion over 60 m hurdles.
