BW

Until the end of 2014, Parschlug was a municipality with 1735 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013) in the judicial district of Bruck an der Mur and in the political district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag in Styria . The community was united with the neighboring town of Kapfenberg on January 1st, 2015 as part of the Styrian community structural reform . The basis for this was the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG.

In a referendum held on October 27, 2013, 75% of the population spoke out against incorporation near Kapfenberg. The Parschlug municipal council at that time took the unanimous decision to challenge the municipal structural reform law at the Constitutional Court and thus spoke out clearly against a merger with Kapfenberg. This procedure was unsuccessful and the Constitutional Court rejected the complaint.
