Patrick Kypson (born October 28, 1999 in Durham , North Carolina ) is an American tennis player .
Career
Junior tour
Patrick Kypson achieved his best result in the junior rankings in July 2017 with 18th place. In 2016 he made it to the quarter-finals as a qualifier at the US Open , which he lost to the eventual winner Félix Auger-Aliassime . At Wimbledon in 2017 he made it to the semi-finals, in which he was also defeated in two sets against the eventual tournament winner Alejandro Davidovich Fokina . He trains at the training base near Orlando with an experimental program for junior players that was introduced by, among others, the former world number one Ivan Lendl .
Professional tour
On the professional tour, Kypson played his first games on the ITF Future Tour as a 16-year-old . So far he has won a double title on this.
He made his Grand Slam debut in 2017 at the US Open . After winning the final against Jeffrey John Wolf in five sets at the national U18 championships , he received a wildcard for the individual field. He lost his opening match against Spanish qualifier Adrián Menéndez in three sets.
