Pat McClung

Patrick McClung (born before 1979) is a special effects artist .

Life

McClung began his career in the late 1970s and made his feature film debut as an animation technician employed by Apogee, Inc. on Robert Wise's science fiction film Star Trek: The Movie . The following year he was working on the special effects of Irvin Kershner's The Empire Strikes Back . During this time he changed employers frequently, for example at the Entertainment Effects Group , Richard Edlunds Boss Film Corporation and Digital Domain .

In 1995 he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects for James Cameron's action film True Lies, along with John Bruno , Jacques Stroweis and Thomas L. Fisher , but the award went to Robert Zemecki's Forrest Gump that year . Also at the BAFTA Film Awards , True Lies was defeated by Forrest Gump in the Best Visual Effects category . In 1999 he was again nominated for an Oscar for Michael Bay's action film Armageddon, along with Richard R. Hoover and John Frazier , but that year the award went to Vincent Ward's Beyond the Horizon .
