Patrick Van Goethem

Patrick Van Goethem (* 1969 in Aalst ) is a Belgian countertenor .

Patrick Van Goethem studied with Paul Esswood , Julia Hamari and Andreas Scholl . He has appeared as a soloist, especially at early music festivals in Germany, France and the Netherlands. He sings regularly a. with Peter Neumann (Collegium Cartusianum), Gustav Leonhardt (the Nederlandse Bachvereniging ), Hans-Christoph Rademann ( Dresdner Kammerchor ), Reinhard Goebel ( Musica Antiqua Köln ), Helmuth Rilling ( Bach-Collegium Stuttgart ), Edward Higginbottom (New College Choir Oxford) , Pierre Cao ( Concerto Köln ), Ebbe Munk (Concerto Copenhagen), Frieder Bernius (Barockorchester Stuttgart). In May 2004 he recorded Bach's Ascension and Easter Oratorio on CD with the Bach Collegium Japan under the direction of Masaaki Suzuki (BIS label) and sang concerts in Tokyo and Kobe.

In April 2005 he made his debut in the United States where he sang Bach's Easter Oratorio and Magnificat with The American Bach Soloists uLv Jeffrey Thomas. In 2005 he performed with the Ensemble De Profundis (uLv Peter Kooij ) at the Bach Week in Ansbach. In September 2005 he sang Bach's Mass in B minor uLv Reilly Lewis with The Washington Bach Consort. In 2006 Patrick Van Goethem recorded cantatas by Dieterich Buxtehude in a production of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir uLv Ton Koopman . In 2007 a tour of Europe with Ton Koopman follows. In March 2007 Patrick Van Goethem sings the alto arias in Bach's Johannes Passion with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century uLv Frans Brüggen . On March 8, 2007, he sang the world premiere of the opera Trans-Warhol at the BMF in Geneva , about the life of Andy Warhol , the French composer Philippe Schoeller .

Van Goethem has been on the stages of all important European festivals and in concert halls such as Gewandhaus Leipzig, Festival van Vlaanderen , Oude Muziekfestival Utrecht, Bachfest Leipzig, London Bach Festival, Handel Festival Göttingen, Festival de la Chaise-Dieu, Handel Festival Halle, Old Music Festival Dresden, Festival Musica Antiqua Brugge, Festival de la Chaise-Dieu to be heard.

In addition to his career as a concert singer, he performs with his ensemble The Flanders Baroque Consort.
