Paul Consbruch

Paul Consbruch (born May 2, 1930 in Gütersloh , Westphalia province , Germany ; † February 1, 2012 in Paderborn , North Rhine-Westphalia ) was auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

Life

Paul Consbruch studied philosophy and Catholic theology from 1950 to 1955 at the Theological Faculty of Paderborn and the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . After receiving the sacrament of ordination by Archbishop Lorenz Jaeger on May 26, 1955 , he initially worked as a temporary worker in Gütersloh and Geseke . There he was appointed vicar and later moved to Brakel . Later he was appointed parish administrator there. In 1967 Consbruch became pastor of St. Johannes Baptist in Beverungen , 10 years later also administrator of the parish of St. Maria Magdalena in Beverungen-Drenke. From 1978 to 1981 he was dean of the pastoral care region Hochstift and has been a member of the priestly council ever since .

On November 15, 1980 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Gor and auxiliary bishop in Paderborn. He received the episcopal ordination on February 8, 1981 by the Archbishop of Paderborn , Johannes Joachim Degenhardt ; Co- consecrators were the Paderborn auxiliary bishops Paul Heinrich Nordhues and Hans Leo Drewes .

In 1981 he became Resident Chapter Chapter and Real Spiritual Councilor . In addition, Consbruch took over the office of mission director in the Archdiocese of Paderborn. On April 2nd he became episcopal vicar for the world mission in the archbishopric and was appointed to the commission of the world church by the German Bishops' Conference. He also worked on the liturgy commission.

On March 11, 1999, Consbruch was relieved of his duties as auxiliary bishop in Paderborn by Pope John Paul II due to illness . It was not until 2005 that Archbishop Hans-Josef Becker adopted him from all functions as part of a pontifical office . Until then he had continued to perform the duties of the episcopal vicar for questions of world mission and had donated the sacrament of Confirmation in numerous congregations in the event of staff shortages .

Paul Consbruch initiated the establishment of the “Pastor of Pastors” as early as 1978, a position to look after priests in emergency situations in the Archdiocese of Paderborn. In 2008 he passed the task on to Auxiliary Bishop Hubert Berenbrinker and Msgr. Andreas Kurte .

Consbruch died in the evening hours of February 1, 2012 and was buried in the cemetery in Stockkämpen .
