Paul Koessler

Paul Felician Carl Koeßler (born June 19, 1896 in Ingolstadt ; † July 15, 1987 in Inzell ) was a German mechanical engineer , vehicle technician and university professor .

Life

Koeßler studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich . From 1924 to 1934 he worked for the Deutsche Reichsbahn . During this time he did his doctorate in Munich (1930). After his habilitation in 1934, he became a full professor for steam boilers, piston engines and railway machines at the Technical University of Braunschweig . It was there that he founded the later Institute for Vehicle Technology in 1940. From 1950 to 1952 he was rector of the TH Braunschweig. His fields of activity extended to the areas of brake technology, vehicle stability and driving safety. After the end of the Second World War he was appointed mayor of Klein Rhüden by the American military government . Later he was a city councilor and councilor of the city of Braunschweig .
