Paul McGillion (born January 5, 1969 in Paisley , Scotland , United Kingdom ) is a Canadian actor .

Life

McGillion was born in Scotland and raised in Canada . His family emigrated when he was two years old, stopping over in Ireland as McGillion's father is Irish. When McGillion was eleven, his family returned to Scotland for a little over three years.

He later studied biology and sport with a minor in teaching and acting . During this time he also devoted himself to wrestling . After graduation, he began teaching acting and auditioning in Toronto . In 1998 and 1999 he taught at the renowned Vancouver Film School .

He gained international fame through his role as Dr. Carson Beckett in the Stargate Atlantis TV series . He had a guest appearance in the first season of Stargate - Kommando SG-1 , but in the role of the young Dr. Ernest Littlefield . He also has a supporting role in Sanctuary as the head of the New York Sanctuary. On September 19, 2010, he married Courtney Armstrong.

As part of a charity, he signed a book with many other actors from science fiction series, which will be auctioned on ebay as part of the 100th Star Trek lecture on December 15, 2011 at the Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences (Zweibrücken).

McGillion has five brothers and a sister and now lives in Vancouver .
