Paul Martin Eduard Richter (born April 1, 1895 in Vienna ; † December 30, 1961 there ) was an Austrian actor .

Life

After a broken business apprenticeship, Paul Richter learned acting at the State Conservatory in Vienna. After his training he appeared in Mannheim, among other places, and was seen in Vienna at the Jarno stages and at the Stadttheater. As early as 1914 he was standing in front of the film camera for smaller roles. After the end of the First World War , in which he had participated as a volunteer with the Kaiserjäger , he worked almost exclusively for film.

In film, Paul Richter was soon committed to the role of heartbreaker, bon vivant or combative hero and daredevil because of his attractive appearance and athletic body. As he got older, he was seen more frequently as the actor of landlords, aristocrats, foresters and officers. His best-known role is that of Siegfried in Fritz Lang's monumental silent film classic The Nibelungs from 1924.

The two could be seen in Dr. Mabuse, the player and as lovers in The King of the Center Forward . Egede-Nissen's son Georg Richter (he had taken his stepfather's surname) from her previous marriage to the actor Georg Alexander was also active in the film industry.

After the Second World War , the passionate mountaineer and hunter Paul Richter could be seen in several homeland films before he ended his career in 1959 as a result of an eye operation.
