Paul of Kulmiz

Karl Ludwig Paul Kulmiz , from 1867 from Kulmiz (born November 8, 1836 in Schweidnitz , Province of Silesia , † November 27, 1895 in Bergfrieden near Arnsdorf (Riesengebirge) ) was a German industrialist and Prussian politician.

Life

He was the eldest son of the Privy Councilor of Commerce and entrepreneur Carl von Kulmiz (1809–1874), founder of the Ida and Marienhütte in Laasan ( Striegau district ) and lord of the Conradswaldau ( Schweidnitz district ) (today Mrowiny, Poland), and Marie Mathilde Huebner (1817–1879). Father Carl and all of his descendants were raised to the Prussian hereditary nobility on July 5, 1867 in Berlin .

Kulmiz attended high school in his hometown Schweidnitz and then studied seven semesters of natural sciences at the University of Wroclaw . During his studies he became a member of the Raczeks Breslau fraternity in 1856 . After his doctorate as Dr. phil. Kulmiz joined his father's company.

Kulmiz married on May 4, 1871 in Kamenz Elisabeth Klementine Mathilde von Poser and Gross-Naedlitz (born September 1, 1845 in Trczinica , cost district , province of Posen ; † June 22, 1914), the daughter of Heinrich Friedrich Ludwig von Poser and Gross -Naedlitz (1792–1882) and his wife and cousin Emilie Essolda Mathilde von Poser and Groß-Naedlitz (1802–1872).

After the death of his father in 1874, Kulmiz took over the management of the family business and became chairman of the supervisory board of Silesia AG , to which the chemical factory in Saarau and the Ida and Marienhütte belonged. At the same time he was in charge of the Kulmiz granite industry in Striegau , the Kulmiz hard coal mines and the coal trade in Altwasser near Waldenburg (Lower Silesia), which belonged to the family empire .

In the years 1881, 1884 and 1887 Kulmiz was elected as constituency member of Schweidnitz-Striegau in the German Reichstag , to which he belonged until 1890. In addition, the manor owner , chairman of the disability and health insurance committee in Silesia , was a member of the provincial parish , the district committee and the state railway council as well as a deputy member of the provincial committee. In addition, Kulmiz worked as head of office and registrar .

Kulmiz died of a serious brain problem.
