Paul von Natalis (born March 8, 1720 in Pillau , Fischhausen district , East Prussia ; † April 4, 1789 in Crossen an der Oder , Brandenburg ) was a royal Prussian major general and commander of Breslau .

origin

His parents were Colonel Jean de Natalis and his wife Susanne de la Fargue . He was their only son.

Life

At the age of 14 he went into Prussian service and in 1740 became an ensign in his father's battalion. There he rose to become captain. At the beginning of the Seven Years' War he was transferred to Grenadier Battalion No. 4 , where he received a company. In November 1759 he was then major and commanded a grenadier battalion, which was composed of the grenadier companies of Infantry Regiment No. 2 (Canitz) and Garrison Regiment No. 9 (Mellin). The regiment was able to prove itself in a number of battles, in particular in the Battle of Freiberg in 1762 , for which he received the Pour le Mérite .

In August 1767 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and was transferred as such to Infantry Regiment No. 39 (Braunschweig), where he became colonel on May 29, 1771. On April 16, 1776, he became Major General and Chief of Garrison Regiment No. 5 . When the garrison regiments were disbanded in 1788, he retired. He died on April 4, 1789 in Crossen .

family

As a major around 1750 he married Charlotte Maria Rahel von Collas (* December 24, 1723 in Königsberg , East Prussia, † December 13, 1794 in Crossen an der Oder), the only daughter of the scholar and builder John von Collas and Christina Charlotte Pelet ( House Weißenstein-Glaubitten) and sister of the royal Prussian major Johann Jakob von Collas (1721–1792).
