Paula Diehl

Paula Diehl (born July 6, 1970 in Porto Alegre , Brazil ) is a German political and communication scientist . She is professor for political theory and the history of ideas at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel .

Life

Career

From 1989 to 1992, Diehl studied communication science (Bachelor 1992) at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo and social sciences at the Universidade de São Paulo in São Paulo. From 1993 to 1996 she studied sociology at the Institute for Sociology I at the Free University of Berlin . In 2002 she worked with Herfried Münkler at the Department of Political Science at the Humboldt University in Berlin with the dissertation Power - Myth - Utopia. The body images of the SS men (1933–1938) for Dr. phil. PhD.

In 2003 she was a postdoc in the Berlin Program for the Promotion of Equal Opportunities for Women in Research and Teaching (BCP) and research assistant on the project “Psychological Contributions to National Socialism Research” at the Department of Social Psychology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 2003 to 2005 she was coordinator and post-doc at the graduate school "Body Staging" at the FU Berlin and in 2005/06 post-doc at the Center Marc Bloch in Berlin and in 2006 at the HU Berlin.

In 2006 she was visiting professor in the Faculties of Communication Studies and Political Science at the Universidade de Brasília . In 2013 the habilitation followed (and the award of the venia legendi ) in political science at the Philosophical Faculty III of the HU Berlin with the thesis The political representative and the “empty place of power”. From 2014 to 2016 she worked as a visiting scholar at the Political Science Department of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. As an academic senior councilor, she was responsible for the theory, history and culture of politics at Bielefeld University from 2016 to 2019.

In the summer semester of 2019 she was appointed to the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . Here she is responsible for the professorship for political theory and the history of ideas at the Institute of Social Sciences .
