action

Paula is eleven years old and the daughter of wealthy parents who are very committed to their jobs and therefore have little time for their daughter. Paula takes refuge in daydreams of a prince charming. She confides all of her secrets in her diary. She is best in class at school.

Paula's classmate Tobi lives with his parents in simple circumstances. His transfer is in jeopardy and he must take a review. If he does not pass this, he has to leave high school. Tobi adores Paula.

In the subway, Paula's diary is stolen, among other things, by members of a gang of children. Paula does not expect any help from her parents. Tobi observes the act, but cannot intervene. However, he offers himself to Paula as a helper if she helps him with his review in English. However, Tobi does not understand what is supposed to be so valuable in a diary. While driving with his parents, Tobi accidentally sees the pickpockets, he jumps out of the car and he manages to track the thieves. He notices a van with an unusual sticker on it.

The first problem is that Paula should go to a holiday camp on the island of Sylt . Tobi, who is supposed to be spending his vacation with his family in Italy, can convince his parents that he has to stay at home to study for his examination. The children decide that instead of Paula Tobi's sister Jenny goes to the holiday camp in Sylt. Therefore Paula now has to live with Tobi, which is not so easy for her.

During their research, Paula and Tobi come across the accommodation of a gang of thieves. They manage to hold the girl Ioana and the boy Radu and get them to talk to them. The children say that they are being blackmailed. Radu can smuggle the diary, which is so precious for Paula, out of the house and give it back to her. For Paula the story could end there, but since Tobi wants to help the two children, she wants to get involved too.

Paula manages to find the address of Ioana's sister in England. Tobi and Paula also manage to free Ioana and Radu from the clutches of the gang of thieves. However, they are followed on the way to the port. They can confuse the pursuers by swapping clothes and Tobi hits one of the pursuers on the knee with his slingshot. The police arrive shortly afterwards. Ioana and Radu are now safe on the ferry.

Thanks to Paula's help, Tobi manages his review. The children return to the circle of their families.

Reviews

Elmar Krekeler from Welt Online wrote: “It has speed, seriousness, tension. With Thelma Heintzelmann and Paul Vincent de Wall, the film has two excellent child actors who are trusted more than they are allowed to show. It has everything a good children's film should have. Only the margarine fairytale prince, Krää should have left him where he belongs. In Paula's diary. "

The Filmbewertungsstelle Wiesbaden stated: “This is really a film for children and young people. He takes his target group seriously, entertains very well and is interesting for girls and boys. "

The lexicon of the international film judged: “ All-round successful child and youth thriller in the best 'Pünktchen and Anton' tradition. "
